Leave No Trace

That’s not the job

McGuire had been taking payoffs from at least a half dozen executives both within the Weyland Consortium and without. On its own, that wasn’t much of a surprise—but put together with what Khan had discovered on McGuire’s PAD, it painted a picture of a grand conspiracy.

Khan didn’t care. She handed all of the data over, lump sum, to her employer, and kept her suppositions to herself.

Ever Closer

The latest version of this deck has Leave No Trace! This card is such gold with Keros and Hernando, I love it. It’s a super Inside Job in the right hands.

After a few more play throughs with Khan’s various builds here, I’ve decided to go with Datasucker over LLDS Processor. The LLDS only really works against stacked ICE types, and if your opponent is savvy, they weave their ICE against this deck. Then LLDS does nothing. Plus, Khan’s ability only triggers on the first piece of ICE you pass each turn, so if you want to derezz a second or third piece of ICE (because the trade is better), then LLDS does nothing for you that turn.

Datasucker will shore up the odd strength numbers on our birds all through a run. Plus we like to run R&D lots. Plus we have Sneakdoor, so we like to run Archives/HQ a lot too.

Also, do not underestimate Tracker. It’s amazing. It’s the first subroutine that would resolve, so  you can break a bunch of things and then not break the single-sub ICE that is the most taxing. In my best case, I used it to “break” an Excalibur for 2 credits each time. Then I could keep running.

Also also, Bloo Moose is the bomb. THE BOMB.

This deck is really getting close to something nasty.

Daredevil

Devil’s Hunger

The mysterious program had opened so many opportunities for Kate. She loved to explore, and though this icebreaker needed to be fed, she had found workarounds for that.

And now the net was even more open. Ripe.

Unstoppable?

This is a modified version of my Adjusted Matrix deck from before. We’re still using Endless Hunger alongside e3 Feedback Implants and Adjusted Matrix, but now we’ve added in Faust. Why? Because Daredevil feeds Faust, and e3 keeps Faust happy.

The best target for Endless Hunger’s nom-nom is MKUltra, naturally. Particularly since Kate can recur the Killer for a cheap 1 credit. That means a run usually nets you +2 cards, then you eat your Killer to get through something and can reinstall it if necessary. Need to blow something else up because you haven’t encountered a Killer? Go for a Fan Site or Artist Colony—or in a pinch—a VoicePAD.

So, what can we break subroutines with? Credits. Cards. Clicks. And installed cards. Seems like we’ve got tricks to get in.

Inversificator

Shopping spree

The mechanized glove articulated nicely as Kit tested each digit in a complex sequence of hexadecimal code.

“Just came in. Good computing power that one,” Aesop said, gesturing at the interleaving. “The neural-net fibres hook directly into your enhancements. You’ll also find that it has targeted overclocking—centrally-networked servers crumple beneath the Gauntlet.”

“I will take it.” Kit said simply, and removed the console from her appendage.

“Excellent. Could I also interest you in some new processors? Fresh off the manufactory.”

It’s like a freight train

I had a general idea that I wanted to put Inversificator into Kit, but I didn’t realize how absolutely powerful it was until one of my local players—Adam—played it with Dedicated Processor and Gauntlet.

It’s just amazing! There’s Spooned to get rid of trouble ICE, Film Critic to deal with trouble agendas and match ups, and Equivocation/Maker’s Eye to really hammer R&D. Not seeing agendas in R&D? Gauntlet gets you a mini HQ Interface. Plus, as Kit, you melt through remote servers (once per turn, of course). The Inti and Mimic are there for oh-crap moments, and the Councilman is there to deal with things like Batty, Caprice, Ash, and whatever else. Of course that doesn’t stop pre-rezzing, but it’s an answer at least.

Major absolute props to Adam for putting this deck idea in my head. I don’t think he was running Mimic or Inti—not sure his suite—but I think these are the best options with SMC on the table.

Adjusted Matrix

Gift horse

Kate held the net chip to her eye, trying to discern any manufacturer markings, nicks, discolourations–anything that would give her a hint as to the origin of the strange piece of hardware.

It had arrived early this morning by courier. The return address had led to a shell company that led nowhere else. She’d spent hours going through the net trying to trace who had sent her the enigmatic chip. Nothing.

Finally, Kate had decided to try it out. She set up an offline rig. She pulled the hardware that let it network, and she wrapped the the thing in a dampening blanket just to be sure.

Then she plugged it in.

The screen booted up, and instead of the regular activation sequence, there was only one word.

“Hungry?”

Starving artist

Like many, I thought Adjusted Matrix went well on Endless Hunger. An 11-strength Icebreaker is hard to argue with, and now we can get past each piece of ICE for a click, unless it has an ETR. If it has an ETR, then we just need one installed card and some credits.

With Kate, that’s easy to do. Net Chips are essential to this build. We need, at minimum, two out at a time. This puts Endless Hunger in our regular memory, Opus on a chip, and MKUltra has space on the last chip. Still, I’d love to have more. Replicator helps us get them out early, then we feed the Replicators to our hungry breaker.

Cache and Harbinger are obviously also in here for hunger targets.

The gameplan is to Indexing and Mad Dash for points, burn through our installed cards, and eventually Levy to reset installables.

Temple of the Liberated Mind is a fun inclusion that can get us an extra piece of ICE once per turn. I think it works here, because we can use it mid-run unlike some other gain-click abilities.

Might be a bit slow, but then again, maybe it won’t be. I’m not sure how to measure this deck, honestly. It’s odd.

PS: Starving Artist Kate should totally be a thing. Endless Hunger with Artist Colony somehow…? The wheels are spinning.
